All Women’s Florida Adventure

Monday March 13 – Sunday March 19, 2017

Beat the mid-winter blues, leave town and head to a warmer climate for a paddle adventure!

This is going to be a great adventure with lots of paddling, fellowship and as always, tons of fun!  You can expect to paddle a different venue every day and you will swim with the Manatee!  We will meet at Gainesville, if you drive at the hotel, if you fly I will pick you up, we will stay the first night at a hotel and go on to spend four nights camping at Chassahowitzka Park our final night will be in a hotel before heading home.

The Paddling:

Our first day of paddling will be spent enjoying the abundant wildlife at lovely Silver Springs in Ocala Florida; one of the largest artesian springs ever discovered. Watch out for the Rhesus Monkeys and gators!

We will then travel to Chassahowitzka Park to set up camp, our home for the next four days and nights.  This is a lovely campground on the Chassahowitzka River.  Clean, heated bathrooms and showers included! The best thing about this park, in my opinion, is a noticeable lack of pesky raccoons.

Day 2 we will head out for a day spent swimming with the Manatee in the Crystal River .  and an afternoon paddle over to Shell Island for some beach time and fun in the sun.

Day 3 we’ll head out early for a 1 ½ hour drive to Myakka River State Park where we will paddle through haunting, winding marshes to a place where the river opens up and alligators hang out.  Myakka is known for the abundance of alligators.  Also Roseate Spoonbills, storks and other birds.  Don’t worry, it’s safe!

Day 4 will be a day on the Chassahowitzka River enjoying more manatee and birds on our way to the Gulf. Spotted dolphin are frequent visitors to this area as well!

On our final day we will pack up camp early and head to Weeki Wachee Springs for a nice 1/2 day paddle and more Manatee on our way back to Gainesville and our hotel.

Cost:

The cost of the trip is $600.00 /person

The price includes four nights campground fees, two nights in a hotel, pick up and drop off at the airport (if you fly down), guiding and some ( informal) instruction. It also includes the first night's in camp dinner
